Motorcycle Rider Training
Motorcycle training is crucial for ensuring rider safety and reducing accidents on the road. It equips riders with essential skills like defensive driving, hazard awareness, and proper handling techniques. By undergoing professional training, motorcyclists become more confident and capable, significantly decreasing the likelihood of crashes and enhancing overall road safety for everyone.
Scholarships are released on the 1st Monday of the Month at 8:00 am and the 20th of the month at 8:00 am if we have extras. If you cannot fill out the application, we are out of Scholarships at the time.
SPECIAL NOTE: Scholarships are open to all Arizona residents 15 years 6 months or older. Applicants must have an Arizona driver’s license, a registered Arizona motorcycle, or active military to qualify for this scholarship. Most scholarship funds come from the state Motorcycle Safety Fund, which comes from Arizona motorcycle registrations.
AMSAF has received grants from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS), sponsorships, and donations. These funds enable AMSAF to continue its motorcycle training scholarship campaign and offer monthly scholarships.
Financial assistance scholarship programs are available, and each program requires a donation at the time of application.
AMSAF Assistance is $250.00 for a BRC course. AMSAF will pay the school this amount, and the schools will credit you this amount from the cost of your course.
What is The Basic Rider Course (BRC)?
This complete entry-level, learn-to-ride class consists of at least 15 hours of formal classroom activities and on-cycle riding exercises conducted over two or three days. About five hours are devoted to learning activities in the classroom, and around 10 hours of hands-on practice are included. Training motorcycles are provided. Successful completion may lead to waiving the motorcycle license skill test and an insurance discount.
This program gives the individual a $250.00 credit through the grant program with a $100.00 nonprofit donation. Ultimately, the rider will get great training and a motorcycle endorsement if they pass the class. The number one concern in our survey is affordability, and this program helps those families. 80% of applicants have 0–1 year riding experience.
Basic Rider Course (BRC) Prerequisites:
- Ability to ride a bicycle
- Full protective attire is required
- Must be of legal age to operate a motorcycle on the street
- A driver’s license and/or motorcycle permit
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- You must choose a school from our list on AMSAF.org/programs. The cost may vary depending on the school you choose.
- Complete the program application
- Make the $100.00 Arizona tax-deductible donation to AMSAF
- While the three training programs are supported by state grants, organizational administration functions and supplies are paid for through donations.

- Remember your donation is tax-deductible and can be applied to your Arizona state annual tax filing for that year.

Q: Has the schedule changed?
A: We realize that each school charges a different rate. Some are lower, and some are higher. In addition, the schools have several promotions to get riders in at different times. AMSAF recommends that you check out the pricing and discounts available to you. We aim to help you save money to get into a motorcycle training course.
Q: What is training assistance?
A: We offer assistance through the Motorcycle Training Assistance Scholarship program. We aim to enroll as many as possible in training classes and then help financially with the AMSAF Motorcycle Training Scholarship Assistance. Education is critical, and we want to get as many folks into the schools as possible and help them get their M endorsement.
What is the AMSAF assistance?

The AMSAF Scholarship assistance has a value of $250.00 for the Basic Rider Course (BRC). It is your responsibility to see if there is any additional cost with the school and what is the amount.
How much will AMSAF pay?
A: AMSAF will provide scholarship assistance if you complete the course and either pass or fail. The assistance is $250 for a BRC course. AMSAF will pay the school this amount, and the school will credit you this amount off your course.
When will AMSAF not pay?
A: We hope you pass. AMSAF will not pay for a no-show or a dropout. In those cases, it is a financial responsibility between you and the school.
When do I know I have the financial scholarship assistance?
A: If you see the application to sign up listed below, complete the form, and donate $100 for the BRC course, you have the scholarship assistance! Your code to share with the school is at the bottom of the completed email. It is called a serial key. We are sold out for the month if you cannot access the scholarship application process. We will have scholarships available the following month.

NOTE: Applicants who enter an incorrect county for their residence are liable for the TOTAL riding course fee.
