AMSAF Executive Board Chairman's Letter
My name is Terry Cooper. I am currently retired and serving as the chairperson for the AMSAF Executive Board. My background is 35+ years of service to the people of the State of Arizona and the city of Phoenix in law enforcement. I am a rider and have enjoyed riding motorcycles for over fifty years.
You may have read the letter from Executive Director, Mick Degn. Mick lays out our three programs dedicated to saving lives through education and safety, as well as our annual fundraising dinner.
Here’s something you all should know – the executive and advisory board members are all volunteers working only to prevent accidents, serious injuries, and deaths on Arizona roadways. AMSAF is always looking for new board members to donate their time to promoting the foundation’s efforts. You do not have to be a motorcycle rider. AMSAF is working hard to promote sharing the road with motorcycle riders and drivers in other types of vehicles by avoiding distracted driving.
AMSAF’s three major programs, training scholarship, helmet purchase assistance, and accident scene management, are the mainstay of the organization and are available only through funding through grants. Grant funds can only be used to fund these main programs. That is why fundraising and dedicated individuals are so important. While members volunteer their time to support AMSAF, there is always the cost of ensuring awareness is shared across the state. Promotional and educational information can only be funded through donations and support from all members, local businesses, and community leaders.
As the Executive Chairperson, I hope that everyone will consider assisting the Arizona Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Foundation. Support AMSAF through volunteerism, board membership, donations, or fundraising. The old adage, “The Life You Save may be Your Own,” is still relevant today.
Sincerely,
